LoopRumors sources confirm that E*Trade Financial is working on an App for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch. The company is said to have a very secret beta circulating internally. E*Trade currently has a native application for Blackberry phones, but the iPhone counterpart promises to be more robust and add much more functionality that the current Blackberry version.
iPhone users have been accessing E*Trade via Safari, which is not the best user experience. The new App is going to allow E+Trade customers to place, cancel, change trades, view open orders, and access portfolios, as well as research stocks, and get real-time quotes from within the App.
With stocks taking a major hit because of the economy, E*Trade has been extremely aggressive in their advertising efforts by placing new ad campaigns on television including airtime during the Superbowl. This App will promise to put electronic online trading in the hands of millions of customers.
While there is no set launch date and the release has been tightly guarded, our source indicates that the App should surface sometime in the May timeframe.
